Blindspot

Updated: Mar 20, 2022

There are no shortcuts

in the refinery of the most

precious things

He asks us

will we lean

our ashen spirits

into Him

and offer

a sacrifice of patience

in a fast-pass world?

He knows how we crave

the

straight

line

and that when we

do not understand

we curse the road

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

(Great pain

and great beauty

each take the breath away

Child -- look again!) ⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Curses become cursive

when we pass the pen

to the One

who created us

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We may be on the downswing of the J

before dizzying on the

merry-go-round of an E

Perhaps we are suspended

on the upward thrust of S

awaiting help in the valley of the U

or seeking shelter in the cave

of the S behind us

It only feels as if

we might be have

stalled on a broken line

He takes us where we long to go

Our perspective is narrow

by design

so that we will lean

into trusting that his hand

has autographed

our lives beautifully ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
